Decks & Porches

Covered porches and decks, taken case by case.

This one works differently to our other trades. Every deck and porch is its own structural problem, so we look at it before we talk numbers — and if it falls outside what we do well, we’ll tell you that instead of guessing.

What We Do

Our decks & porches work

01

Covered porches

Where our roofing work overlaps most directly. A porch roof has to tie into the existing structure properly — flashed at the wall, supported to code, and drained so it doesn’t dump onto the walkway.

02

Deck builds

Framing, decking, rails, and stairs. Footings sized for the span and the soil, ledger flashed and bolted correctly — the ledger connection is where deck failures start.

03

Rebuild & repair

Replacing failed boards and rails on sound framing, or rebuilding from the footings when the structure has gone. We’ll tell you honestly which one you have.

04

Roof tie-ins

Existing porch and patio covers reflashed and reroofed where they meet the house. A bad tie-in leaks into the wall, not onto the porch, so it stays hidden for years.

Why It Matters

Why we take these one at a time

Roofing is repeatable — the variables are known and the pricing follows the square. Decks aren’t. Span, footing depth, ledger condition, existing framing, grade, and code requirements all change what the job actually is, and none of it is visible from a photo or a phone call.

So we come look. If it’s a good fit we’ll scope it properly; if it’s better suited to a dedicated deck builder we’ll say so and point you somewhere worth calling.

Warning Signs

What to look for

Four things you can check yourself before calling anyone.

Boards that flex or feel soft

Give underfoot means the decking or the joists below have started to go.

Wobbling rails or posts

Rails are a life-safety component. Movement means the connection has failed and it needs addressing now, not next season.

Rust streaks or loose fasteners

Corroded hardware, especially at the ledger, is the most common cause of serious deck failures.

Standing water or rot at the wall

Water sitting where the deck or porch meets the house is getting into the structure behind it.
