Fascia

Rotted fascia replaced so your gutters have something to hold onto.

The fascia is the board running along your roof edge — it closes the rafter tails and carries the gutter. It takes more weather than almost any other exterior component, and it’s usually the first thing to go.

What We Do

Our fascia work

01

Rot replacement

Cut out the failed sections, check the rafter tails behind them, and install new board. If the tails have gone too, that gets addressed before anything is closed back up.

02

Aluminum wrap

Wrapping new or sound wood in coil stock ends the repainting cycle. Done properly it sheds water; done over rot it just hides the problem, which is why we replace first.

03

Full fascia runs

When more than a few sections have failed, replacing the whole run gives a straight edge line. Patchwork fascia is visible from the street.

04

Gutter removal & reinstall

Gutters have to come off to do this right. We pull them, do the carpentry, and re-hang on solid board with correct pitch.

Why It Matters

Fascia rot is almost always a symptom

Board doesn’t rot on its own. It rots because water is reaching it — from a gutter that overflows, a drip edge that was never installed, or shingles that stop short of the edge. Replace the board without fixing the source and you’ll be replacing it again.

We look at the gutter, the drip edge, and the shingle overhang before quoting fascia work. Sometimes the real fix is upstream and cheaper than you expected.

Warning Signs

What to look for

Four things you can check yourself before calling anyone.

Gutters sagging or pulling loose

The most common symptom. Fasteners can’t hold in soft wood, so the gutter starts leaning away from the house.

Soft or spongy board

Press behind the gutter with a screwdriver. If it sinks, the board is gone regardless of how the paint looks.

Peeling or bubbling paint

Paint lifting along the roof edge means moisture is moving through the wood from behind.

Birds, wasps, or squirrels at the roof edge

Animals exploit soft wood. Activity along the fascia line usually means there’s already an opening.
